Hello,

I am Mateo Valdez(b.1994) a Mexican-American photographer who is based in San Francisco,CA. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and fell in love with capturing images through the Los Angeles music scene. I spent almost a decade as a nuclear electrician in the United States Navy, operating reactors onboard submarines. I was honorably discharged and picked up a camera to finally pursue my career in photography.

My creative journey started in concert photography just like when I was much younger because I love capturing connection between people through music. Over time that broadened to portraiture and documentary style photography, now focusing on visual storytelling and highlighting human connection.
